The Transfusion Medicine Academy offers courses aimed at supporting Doctors and Clinical Scientists in training to achieve knowledge and understanding in Transfusion Science.
There are three different levels of course available, designed to fit with the various stages of your training in transfusion; Essential Transfusion Medicine is our entry-level course, for those commencing studies in Transfusion, Intermediate Transfusion Medicine for those working towards RCPath Part 1 examinations, and RCPath Revision Course to consolidate knowledge for those preparing for RCPath Part 2 examinations.
These courses are delivered using a blend of online digital learning packages, facilitated virtual classroom sessions alongside practical exposure to routine laboratory techniques to give you a full and thorough understanding of the core concepts of transfusion medicine.

A one-day laboratory-based practical course to take Doctors completing their specialist training in transfusion through the routine pre-transfusion testing process. This programme gives the opportunity to practice basic transfusion techniques in a training laboratory environment.
This programme will introduce the key aspects of Transfusion Medicine to enable safe and effective practice to Specialty Registrars (StR) and ST2/3s newly in post. It is aimed at Doctors commencing studies in Transfusion Medicine and/or all newly registered StRs within the first 6 months of training.
This programme is aimed to meet the training needs of Speciality Registrars who are studying for the Part 1 RC Path examination in Haematology and Transfusion Medicine. Delegates must have an StR number (National Training Number)
